What is Adopt A Spot?
Adopt A Spot is your opportunity to make a real difference in your local area — whether your part of a school, business, community group, or simply someone who cares about the environment. The goal is to encourage people to love where they live by looking after nature and creating greener, happier spaces for all.
There are so many ways to get involved! You might choose to keep a favourite place litter-free, create habitats to welcome local wildlife, or inspire others by showing how small actions can lead to big, shared benefits. Join a growing movement of people taking ownership to help nature recover.

Use our Activity Log below to share what you’ve been up to in your Spot:
1. Choose Your Spot
Pick a place you’re passionate about — whether it’s a littered stretch of beach, a neglected alley, or your local park. Always make sure the area is safe and that you have permission to access it. The hardest part is getting started!
2. Plan Your Activities
Decide what you’d like to do in your Spot. You could plant for pollinators, create habitats for wildlife, or carry out a regular clean-up — every action makes a difference. Find out more about how you can support local biodiversity here.
Before you get started, we recommend doing a BioBlitz to discover what wildlife is already thriving in your area. It’s a great way to understand your starting point and track your progress over time! Find out more here.
3. Register Your Spot
Create an account on Submittable and sign up to Adopt A Spot here. All you need to do is create a username and password on Submittable, and once registered, you’ll have access to your Adopt A Spot information anytime. By registering, you agree to care for your Spot and follow our Health and Safety Handbook.
4. Log Your Progress
Once registered, track your activities using the Activity Log. This helps us stay up to date with your great work! Each year, we’ll also send a short survey to hear your feedback and celebrate your progress.
5. Enjoy Your Spot!
Whether you’re adopting your Spot to improve the appearance of your local area or to make a difference for local wildlife, the time you spend outdoors will help you connect with nature and boost your mental wellbeing.
